Author's Notes
TUSK
is not a children’s musical, it is a musical for the entire
family. The story of an elephant family and two people who make
the ultimate sacrifice, a modern day morality play, both dark and
yet with resolution, TUSK challenges our sense
of humankind. Thought provoking, demanding, times of elation, and
joy, betrayal, imprisonment, slavery, murder, greed, and ultimately
survival is the journey experienced with TUSK.
Exposing there is no secret to life, all things change, yet strength
must be constant, and it is from our strengths that we meet life’s
challenges. TUSK shows these concepts are part
of the make up of all living beings, and survival is about sharing
those lessons with and for future generations, a compelling story
of social significance that will move you.
The story of TUSK came to be as the awareness and
exposure of the cruelty that has been the fate of elephants as they
are captured and forced to entertain in the circus industry. Not
always a happy or rewarding experience, but a hard life learning
unnatural tricks, of work and confinement.
